Eating a healthy diet and regular exercise can keep
cardiovascular disease at bay. Incorporate nuts as part of a healthy diet that
can prove to be beneficial for your ticker. They are a great snack food which
are inexpensive, easy to store and you can easily pack them when on the go. In
addition, nuts contain unsaturated fatty acids and other nutrients. Sadly, the
only drawback is nuts are high in calories so it’s advisable to limit portions.
Cardiovascular disease is one of the leading causes of a
cardiac arrest or heart attack which are life-threatening emergencies. You
cannot predict the occurrence of these emergencies which can strike someone
irrespective of one’s age. Even children or infants can get struck with a
Sudden Cardiac arrest (SCA). The most common causes of SCA in children are structural
cardiac abnormalities (congenital heart diseases and postoperative repairs,
coronary artery anomalies, or Marfan syndrome), abnormalities of the
electrical system of the heart (also known as primary electrical diseases), abnormalities
of the heart muscle structure or function, acquired heart disease; abnormal
heart rhythms including atrial flutter/atrial fibrillation, ventricular
tachycardia (VT), ventricular fibrillation (VF), sinus node dysfunction, and
complete heart block, etc.
SCA occurs when the ticker suddenly stops beating which is
caused by the immediate loss of electrical heart function, usually from an
irregular or rapid quivering of the ventricles called Ventricular Fibrillation.
The best way to handle out-of-hospital cardiac arrest cases is by getting CPR
trained. The procedure comprises chest compressions and rescue breaths which
when applied early along with an automated external defibrillator (AED) can
help restart a stopped heart and allow return of a normal heartbeat to help
prevent sudden cardiac death (SCD).
Select a certified training site for acquiring training such
as the AHA certified CPR Columbus in Ohio. There are courses for both
healthcare and non-healthcare providers. Learn more about a “PALS class Columbus”:
Pediatric
Advanced Life Support classes- The course has been designed to
prepare healthcare providers to treat the acutely ill or injured infant or
child. This program teaches a systematic approach to the assessment of a sick
infant or child. Using the PALS evaluate-identify-intervene sequence,
healthcare providers will be able to quickly identify and treat the pediatric
patient’s injury or illness. The course by the virtue of being broken into several
skills stations allow students to practice and gain confidence in both their
assessment skills and treatment of the acutely ill or injured pediatric
patient.
Let’s get back to the benefits
of eating nuts:
A great deal of research suggests the immense benefits of
nuts on heart health and reduction in the risks of dying early of
cardiovascular disease and other causes. But the evidence is still
inconclusive. But, there’s no danger in eating nuts unless you’re allergic to
them, so you can certainly include nuts as part of your diet for ticker health.
Nut benefits the ticker by lowering the low-density
lipoprotein (LDL, or "bad") cholesterol levels which plays a major
role in the development of plaque that builds up on the blood vessels.
Furthermore, eating more nuts is associated with lower levels of inflammation
linked to heart disease. Eating nuts reduces risk of developing blood clots
that can cause a deadly heart attack. Its consumption also improves the health
of the lining of your arteries.
Most nuts contain some of these heart-healthy substances like
unsaturated fats, fiber, vitamin E, plant sterols, omega-3 fatty acids,
L-arginine (It is a substance that can help improve the health of the artery
walls by making them more flexible and less prone to blood clots).
Types of
Nuts:
It doesn’t matter the type of nut that you choose to eat as
most appear to be generally healthy though some may have more heart-healthy
nutrients, such as walnuts contain high amounts of omega-3 fatty acids. The
other heart-healthy nuts include almonds, hazelnuts, pecan, etc. Nut oils as
well are good source of healthy nutrients, but they lack the fiber found in
whole nuts. Go for walnut oil which is the highest in omega-3s.
